WHAT I WANT TO ACHIEVE IN 2021

Every year, around Christmas time, I tell myself I'm not going to make resolutions for the new year. I don't want to pressure myself in any way or set myself up for failure...

... this time it's different. 2020 was an incredibly challenging year. Without getting into too many personal details, it started October 2019 for me. I thought to myself, "it can't get any worse." Then at the end of December (2019) my son was very sick and was having a hard time breathing so we called 911 (a HUGE thank you to all first responders!!) Then COVID hit. My kids have been distance learning since March 2020 and won't be back on campus until the next school year, hopefully. That's the easy part compared to some of the other challenges we've had. With everything that's been happening we let ourselves go (otherwise, I'm incredibly grateful for our good health!!). 2019 my diet was 90% clean eating and I was working out 3-4 days a week. I felt like I was in my twenties! Well, 2020.... Chik-fil-A and Shake Shack (my fave!!) became a staple and when my gym closed the workouts stopped. I'm sure a lot of you know what I'm talking about. We chalk it up to a moment in time that will long live in the stories our kids tell their kids and everything will get better.

New year, new goals, new attitude....
It's time for a change!
I've decided to set specific goals for 2021. No more fast food. No more wine... well, we decided Friday and Saturday only (we love our cabernet!) and the exercise has to not only start back up but be consistent.
To help me achieve those goals successfully I will be writing them in my life planner so that I can see them daily. I get this planner and customize it with family photos. It also gives the option to change the page layout. It has been extremely helpful in staying organized. I highly recommend it. I linked it for you here or you can find other good options here.
Here is a list of some goals I want to accomplish not only for the year but on a daily basis.
Wake up at 6am Monday-Friday (I'm a night owl and love to sleep in) & have coffee with Mark before he goes to work.
Put on make-up and get dressed every morning to help get me motivated (anyone else in pjs or loungwear all day?)
Go to bed by 10-11pm (usually it's 2am yikes)
Meal plan (clean eating) every Friday, grocery shop on Saturday and meal prep on Sunday (blog post on this coming soon)
Read a new book every month (Where the Crawdads Sing is my current fave)
Workout 3-4 days a week (one hour each)
Be more active with my kids
Be kind to myself
Stay positive!
What are some of your personal goals? Here's to a healthy year! A year to better myself and my family.
Happy New Year to all of you. The best is yet to come....
Cheers,
