When I was searching for blueberry muffin recipes yesterday I didn't know I'd find one with so much history! It was fun to read the story behind these and also fun to make.

I wasn't planning on this being a blog post! Hence the pjs and no make-up! But I had to share because these muffins are sooooo good!

Jordan Marsh was a department store based in Boston from the 1860's to the late 1990's. They housed an on-site cafe serving treats to shoppers but it's their blueberry muffins they are most known for.

After more than 100 years in operation, Jordan Marsh eventually folded into the Macy's chain but their blueberry muffin recipe lives on.

Jordan Marsh Blueberry Muffins
Ingredients
1/2 cup butter softened (I used unsalted)
2 cups unsifted flour
1 cup sugar
2 large eggs
1/2 cup milk
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2-1/2 cups large fresh blueberries
1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
course sanding sugar (for top of muffins)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°F.
In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy; add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition.
In a second bowl, combine all dry ingredients.
Gradually add dry ingredients to the creamed butter and sugar mixture along with the milk and vanilla.
Crush 1/2 cup of blueberries with a fork and mix into the batter. Fold in the remaining whole berries.
Line a 12 cup standard muffin tin with cupcake liners and fill with batter. Sprinkle the sugar over the tops of the muffins and bake at 375 degrees for about 30-35 minutes. Remove muffins from tin and cool. Store, uncovered.... if you have any left.
** Be careful. These are addictive. Just ask my kids!
